Obverse description Bare, youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless in the idealized Lysippan style, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress with the scalp pulled over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The finely rendered hair curls beneath the lion-skin at the temple and nape, and the facial features display the characteristic vigor of early Macedonian die-engraving. The field is unlettered, with the portrait filling the flan in high sculptural relief.
