Obverse description Head of the youthful Herakles facing right, wearing the lion-skin headdress with the scalp tied beneath the chin, the paws knotted at the neck; the facial features rendered in fine Hellenistic style with idealized proportions. The lion's mane is rendered in crisp, feather-like folds framing the face, with the beast's open jaw resting atop the hero's head. The portrait is struck in high relief against a smooth, unadorned field with no legend, the entire composition filling the flan to the border.
