| Obverse description | Diademed head of Alexander I Balas facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with idealized features and finely detailed curling hair. A broad diadem is tied around the head with ends visible behind the neck. The portrait is set within a plain border of raised dots (dotted border). The field is otherwise unadorned, with the effigy dominating the flan. The engraving displays the refined workmanship characteristic of Seleucid royal coinage of the mid-second century BC. |

| Reverse description | Eagle standing left on prow of galley, wings spread, with a palm frond over its right shoulder; to the left, a Phoenician inscription in multiple lines, and between the eagle's legs a control symbol. To the right of the eagle, a scepter surmounted by a trident symbol appears in the field. The encircling Greek legend reads BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEXANΔΡOY, with the regnal year ΓΞΡ (163 of the Seleucid era) also inscribed. The entire design is enclosed within a dotted border, reflecting the distinctive Phoenician civic coinage style adopted at the Berytos mint. |
