Obverse description Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in three-quarter view turned slightly to the right, with luxuriant wavy hair radiating outward from the face in a naturalistic yet idealised Rhodian style. The facial features are finely modelled with high relief, displaying large almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips, conveying a serene divine expression. The flowing locks are arranged symmetrically around the face, characteristic of the skilled die-cutters of the Rhodian mint during the early fourth century BC. No legend appears on the obverse; the design occupies the full flan.
