| Obverse description | Quadriga driven at speed to the right, guided by Artemis holding the reins in both hands and Apollo at her side drawing a bow. The four horses are rendered in dynamic profile. A barley grain appears in the exergue, a civic emblem of Selinous. The composition reflects the high-relief artistry characteristic of Sicilian die engravers of the late Archaic and early Classical periods. |

| Reverse description | The river god Selinos stands frontally, nude, his head turned to the left. In his raised right hand he holds a phiale pouring a libation over a lit altar; his left arm cradles a filleted palm branch. To his left, a rooster stands facing left before a second altar. To his right, a selinon (wild parsley) leaf is depicted above a bull standing and facing left, referencing the city's name and fertile river. The retrograde ethnic inscription ΣΕΛ-ΙΝΟΝΤ-Ι-ΟΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing polis. |
