| Reverse description | A fast quadriga driven vigorously to the left, the charioteer gripping the reins tautly with both hands, the horses rendered with dynamic energy and anatomical precision. In the upper field, Nike flies to the right, extending a taenia and wreath toward the charioteer in the act of crowning the victor. The ethnic legend KATANAIΩΝ is inscribed in the exergue, below which a fish swims to the left, a characteristic marine symbol frequently employed on the coinage of this Sicilian mint. |
