Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in fine early Classical style with long hair rolled and gathered behind the neck, individual locks falling in elegant tresses onto the shoulder. The laurel wreath is depicted with carefully engraved leaves arching over the crown of the head. The facial features are idealized yet naturalistic, with a sensitively modeled profile, almond-shaped eye, and refined jawline characteristic of Sicilian die-engraving of the mid-fifth century BC. A small serpent is visible among the lower curling locks, a detail consistent with the iconographic program of this series.
