Obverse description Right-facing helmeted head of Athena, rendered in high relief in the archaic-classical style. The goddess wears a close-fitting Attic helmet pushed back to reveal her forehead, decorated with a palmette above the visor and olive leaves along the bowl. Her wavy hair falls in thick locks behind the ear, and she wears a round earring. The eye is depicted frontally in the archaic convention, and the finely modelled features convey a serene, idealized divinity. The field is plain and unlettered.
