Obverse description Facing lion's scalp rendered in high relief, depicted full-face with prominent mane radiating outward in flame-like striations around the perimeter. The facial musculature is boldly articulated, with deeply incised nostrils, open jaws, and deeply set eyes conveying a powerful, frontal gaze characteristic of the Samian artistic tradition. The mane is rendered with layered, curving locks arranged symmetrically, framing the face with exceptional sculptural depth. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hand-struck Greek coinage of the fourth century BC. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse.
