Obverse description Quadriga driven at speed to the right, the charioteer depicted as an armored female figure (Nike or a charioteer) holding the reins and a kentron; above the horses, a winged Nike flies rightward crowning the charioteer. In the exergue below the groundline, a dolphin is depicted swimming to the right, a characteristic emblem of the coastal city of Kamarina. The composition is enclosed by a beaded border and reflects the high artistic standards of Sicilian Greek coinage of the late fifth century BC.
