Obverse description Facing head of Hermes rendered in fine archaic-to-classical transitional style, depicted full-face with carefully delineated curling hair falling to either side of the face. The god wears a taenia or fillet across the brow, indicated by a dotted beaded band. The facial features are naturalistically modeled with almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The portrait is centered within the plain round field with no surrounding legend.
