| Obverse description | Draped bust of Demeter facing right, her hair elaborately arranged in loose flowing waves and bound with a wreath of grain stalks and barley ears. A serpent is prominently entwined through the hair at the left side of the neck, a distinctive iconographic attribute of the goddess. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style with a smooth, idealized profile, high cheekbone, and softly modeled chin. The field to the right is plain and unlettered. No legend appears on the obverse. |
