Obverse description Lion attacking a bull, depicted in dynamic high relief. The lion, shown with a detailed mane, lunges upon the back of the collapsing bull from the right, its jaws biting into the bull's hindquarters. The bull kneels in submission, its head turned downward. The entire group is enclosed within a dotted border, with a ground line beneath the figures. The composition is rendered in the vigorous, naturalistic style characteristic of northern Greek coinage of the late fifth to early fourth century BC.
