| Obverse description | Facing lion's head shown in bold high relief, rendered in the archaic-to-early classical Greek artistic tradition characteristic of Rhegion's coinage. The mane is depicted with stylized radiating striations above the forehead, flanked by two prominent curved horns or ear tufts sweeping outward. The facial musculature is powerfully modeled, with a broad muzzle, deeply incised nostrils, and a firmly closed jaw with visible lower teeth. The entire design is set within a beaded border, filling the flan with commanding presence. No legend appears on this side. |
