Palairos was a small polis on the Akarnanian coast of northwestern Greece, a region whose cities formed one of the more durable federal leagues in the ancient world — the Akarnanian Confederacy. Coinage from Palairos is sparse by any measure, and bronze issues of this weight class suggest local civic ambition outpacing actual economic reach. The HGC 4, 901 designation places this firmly among the rarer documented types from the region.
