Obverse description Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in high relief with a slight three-quarter turn to the right. The youthful, idealized visage is framed by radiating, windswept hair arranged in loose waves fanning outward from the crown, evoking the solar rays emblematic of the deity. The facial features are finely modeled with pronounced eyes, a straight nose, and softly parted lips, reflecting the accomplished early fourth-century BC Rhodian engraving tradition. The overall composition fills the flan with commanding presence, characteristic of the earliest coinage struck following the synoikism of Rhodes in 408 BC.
