Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in the archaic style with a large almond-shaped eye shown frontally. The goddess wears an Attic helmet adorned with a tall crested ridge and decorative scroll motifs at the bowl, with hair rendered as a series of fine parallel curls escaping below the helmet rim. The cheek guard is raised, and the ear is visible. The flan is irregularly shaped and slightly rough, characteristic of early Athenian coinage of this transitional period.
