Obverse description Slow quadriga advancing to right, driven by a standing charioteer who holds the reins and a kentron; above in the field, Nike flies right to crown the horses with a wreath. A decorative palmette flanked by curling tendrils occupies the exergue. The composition reflects the high Classical style characteristic of Sicilian coinage of the mid-fifth century BC.
