| Obverse description | Dionysus reclines to left upon the back of a walking mule, his body draped in relaxed symposiastic pose. The god raises a cantharus in his extended right hand while his left arm rests languidly against the animal's flank. A crow perches on a plant before the mule, serving as a sacred attribute of Apollo and a civic emblem of Mende.
