Obverse description Quadriga driven at speed to the left, with a charioteer (auriga) leaning forward in dynamic pose, holding the reins; above, Nike flies rightward crowning the charioteer with a wreath. The four horses are rendered in vigorous, high-relief style characteristic of early Classical Syracusan coinage. A rocky exergual line appears below the horses' hooves, lending depth to the composition.
