Reverse description Apollo, nude, seated to right upon the sacred omphalos, his weight supported by his left arm as he cradles a kithara (lyre); his right hand extends forward holding a plektron. The composition is rendered in the elegant late Classical tradition, with the god's muscular form carefully delineated. The ethnic legend ΣΙΝΩΠΕΩΝ appears in the field along with the magistrate's initials Α, Μ, and ΑΡ, identifying the issuing authority of the Black Sea colony of Sinope.
