Obverse description Facing slightly left, the bearded head of Dionysos rendered in high relief in the archaic style, his flowing locks arranged in thick, wavy tresses falling about his neck. A wreath of ivy or vine leaves crowns the deity's head, consistent with his Bacchic identity. The portrait displays strong, naturalistic modelling of facial features including a prominent brow, deep-set eye, and full beard rendered with fine, curling strands. The flan is irregular, and no legend appears on the obverse.
