| Reverse description | A horse standing to the right in a proud, animated posture, its head turned slightly and its mane finely detailed with incised lines. The legend ΑΙΝΙΟΝ is inscribed in Greek characters above the horse in the upper field. In the lower right field, a small forepart of a goat or a goat's head is depicted as a subsidiary symbol, a civic emblem associated with the city of Ainos in Thrace. The composition is well-centered and reflects the accomplished engraving style of the Ainos mint during the late Classical period. |
