Obverse description Laureate and bearded head of Zeus Soter Epiphanes facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling locks of hair and a full, voluminous beard composed of tight ringlets. An olive wreath crowns the head, its leaves and berries rendered with naturalistic precision characteristic of Hellenistic die engraving. The portrait is depicted in profile with a strong, idealized physiognomy, occupying the full flan, with the truncation of the neck visible at the lower edge. The field is plain and unlettered.
