| Reverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles faces left, the scalp and jaws enveloped in the pelt of the Nemean lion, with the beast's maw framing the hero's face as a headdress. The modelling of the portrait is bold and deeply cut, consistent with the high-relief Sicilian style of the late fifth century BC. A bow is placed vertically in the left field, serving as an attribute of the hero. The field is otherwise plain, with no inscriptional legend. |
