| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right in high relief, rendered in the early Classical style. The goddess wears a round earring and a crested Attic helmet, the bowl of which is decorated with three incised olive leaves and a spiral palmette. The eye is rendered in the archaic frontal manner despite the profile presentation of the face, a characteristic feature of the transitional period between Archaic and Classical coinage. |

| Reverse description | Owl (Athena's sacred bird) standing erect to right with head turned to face the viewer, rendered with characteristic large frontal eyes and detailed plumage; the legs are depicted in a parallel stance. An olive sprig with berries appears in the upper left field, and the ethnic inscription AΘE occupies the right field. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, a hallmark of early Athenian coinage of this transitional period. |
