Obverse description The obverse depicts a slow quadriga moving to the right, driven by a charioteer standing in the car and holding the reins. A winged Nike flies above the horses, extending a wreath toward the charioteer in a gesture of victory. Beneath the horses, in the exergue, lies a single arrow pointing to the left, a distinctive emblem associated with Gela. The composition is rendered in the archaic-to-early Classical style, with the horses shown in careful anatomical detail and the chariot wheel prominently displayed to the left.
