| Obverse description | Forepart of a horse to the left, rendered in vigorous archaic style, with Nike flying left above, extending a wreath to crown the horse. A barley corn appears in the left field. Below the horse, two incense-burners (thymiaterion-type stands) are interposed within the Phoenician legend encircling the design. The composition reflects strong Syracusan stylistic influence adapted to a Punic iconographic programme. |
