Myrina was an Aeolian city on the western coast of Asia Minor that produced a distinctive series of Stephanophoric tetradrachms beginning in the second century BC, shortly after the Roman reorganization of the region following the defeat of Antiochus III. The Sacks corpus remains the primary reference for this municipal coinage, which was struck over a relatively compressed timeframe before Myrina's independent minting activity diminished under shifting regional politics.
Sacks #41 falls within the earlier phase of the series. Specimens frequently show slightly uneven flan preparation, a characteristic of the city's workshop rather than individual die failure.
