Obverse description Facing gorgoneion depicted in high relief at centre, the visage rendered with open mouth, broad nose, and staring eyes framed by an elaborate surround of writhing snakes and feathered wings forming the aegis. The serpents radiate outward across the entire field in a bold, expressive Hellenistic style, filling the flan to its irregular edge. No legend or inscription is present on the obverse.
