| Reverse description | Facing full-length figure of Isaac Komnenos standing in imperial vestments, wearing a crown and loros, holding a scepter in his right hand and an akakia or globus cruciger in his left. The figure is rendered in a stiff, frontal hieratic style characteristic of Byzantine provincial coinage. The Greek legend ICAAKIOC ΔЄCПOTIC, reading 'Isaakios Despotis' (Despot Isaac), is distributed in the left and right fields around the imperial figure. The flan is irregular and shows the crude engraving typical of the Nicosia mint during Isaac's autonomous rule of Cyprus. |
