Obverse description Kantharos (wine cup) depicted in profile, rendered in relief with two upward-curving handles and a stemmed foot, centrally positioned within the field. A small ivy leaf is shown above the vessel, a reference to the Dionysiac cult associations of Naxos. The design is executed in an archaic Greek style characteristic of Cycladic coinage of the late 6th to early 5th century BC, with bold, simplified forms suited to the diminutive flan.
