Obverse description Central field dominated by the Gothic letter 'L' (for Ludovicus) set within an ornate quatrefoil frame composed of interlacing branches adorned with stylized rosettes. Three fleurs-de-lis are prominently displayed around the central motif — one at the top and one on each side — referencing the French royal arms of Louis XII. The surrounding circular legend, separated by floral ornaments, reads LVDOVIC REX F C IAN D, identifying Louis as King of France and Lord of Genoa. The overall design reflects the late Gothic decorative idiom characteristic of Genoese coinage under French dominion.
