Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Francis I, shown in profile with a prominent beard and long flowing hair, surmounted by an elaborate fleur-de-lis crown. The king's shoulders are adorned with richly detailed armour and ermine-trimmed robes rendered in fine relief. The effigy is enclosed within a plain inner circle, with the Latin legend running along the outer field between a beaded border. The portrait reflects the Renaissance aesthetic typical of early 16th-century French royal coinage, combining regal authority with humanistic portraiture.
