Reverse description The royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — displayed centrally and surmounted by a large fleurs-de-lis-ornamented crown, set within an ornate cusped and foliated frame with trefoil finials at the flanks. The shield is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumscribed Latin legend XPS VINCIT XPS REGNAT XPS IMPERAT runs around the outer border, separated by stops, invoking the Christus vincit acclamation traditional to French royal coinage.
