Obverse description Draped bust of Francis I facing right, wearing an elaborate crown, within a beaded inner circle. The king is depicted in Renaissance portrait style with detailed drapery at the shoulder. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, interrupted at the top by a small cross. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hammered coinage of the period.

Reverse description Royal shield of France semé-de-lis surmounted by an ornate crown and flanked on either side by the initial letter F, all within a beaded inner circle. The mint mark appears at the base of the shield. A circular Latin legend reading the Christus Vincit formula surrounds the design, divided by a cross at the top. The overall composition is typical of French Renaissance royal coinage.
