Obverse description Draped and crowned bust of Francis I facing right, wearing a floral crown adorned with trefoils, rendered in the Renaissance portrait style characteristic of early French testons. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend disposed around the periphery. The king's mantle and collar are visible below the truncation, lending a regal, sculptural quality to the portrait. The lettering is in Gothic capitals separated by stops.
