Reverse description The crowned royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — occupies the central field, flanked on each side by a crowned Gothic letter F, the royal initial of Francis I. The crowned shield is rendered in a bold, heraldic style typical of hammered French Renaissance coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, referencing the Psalm 115 inscription, all within a beaded border. The overall design is symmetrical and emblematic of the French royal monetary tradition of the period.
