Obverse description Conjoined busts of Duke Charles IV and Duchess Nicole facing right, rendered in high relief in the early Baroque style characteristic of Lorraine coinage of the period. Charles IV is depicted in the foreground, his bust draped in a lace collar and mantle, with curling hair; Nicole appears behind him, similarly draped. The dual effigies fill the central field, with the circumferential Latin legend running continuously around the toothed inner border.
