Perum Peruri — the state security printing works established in 1971 — has produced virtually all Indonesian banknotes and official documents since its founding, making "test notes" from this facility genuine production artifacts rather than marketing samples. This piece, attributed to designer Desmal, functions as a technical proof: printed to verify registration, ink density, and guilloche fidelity before a live series goes to press. Such items rarely left Karawang through official channels.
General Sudirman, the subject here, died of tuberculosis in January 1950 at thirty-four — too young to see the republic he helped defend fully consolidate its independence.
