Obverse description Central device depicts a seated cross-legged deity with a solemn downturned expression, crowned by a large stylized lotus or flame-like halo, flanked on the left by an elephant and on the right by a lion in higher relief. The figures are rendered in low to medium relief within a plain circular field with a finely toothed rim.

Reverse description Central device shows an idealized multi-tiered Buddhist temple or pagoda complex with a prominent central stupa and several flanking smaller stupas, set above a stepped platform or reflecting pool, all within a beaded inner circle. The device is surrounded by a wreath of leafy branches with berries below, and a Burmese script legend arching around the upper field; the date 1180 in the Burmese calendar (corresponding to 1818 CE) is discernible in the legend.
