Additional information

Shahrukh, fourth son of Timur, inherited the eastern half of the empire after years of fratricidal conflict and ruled for over four decades from Herat — an unusually stable tenure for a Timurid. Yazd, a significant silver-producing and trading center in Fars, operated as one of his more productive mints throughout his reign, and issues from there tend to show less die fatigue than those from frontier mints.

His reign saw a deliberate return to orthodox Sunni practice after Timur's more syncretic religious politics, a shift reflected in the mint's religious formulae.
