| Obverse description | Hammered silver tanka struck in the name of the Timurid ruler Shahrukh Mirza. The field bears a multi-line Arabic and Persian inscription arranged in cursive Naskh script, giving the ruler's full titulature: al-Sultan al-Azam (the Supreme Sultan), Amir Shahrukh Bahadur Khan, accompanied by the mint name Samarqand and the pious phrase Khallada Mulkahu (may his reign be eternal). The date of striking in AH numerals (e.g. 830 AH) appears within the legend field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, characteristic of Timurid hammered coinage, with small floral rosette ornaments punctuating the field between lines of text. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a central square panel set within a beaded circle, containing the Shahada in Arabic: La Ilaha Illa Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God), arranged in multiple lines across the field. In the four margins flanking the sides of the central square appear the names of the four Rashidun (Rightly Guided) Caliphs: Abu Bakr (top), Umar (left), Uthman (bottom), and Ali (right), a characteristic feature of Sunni Timurid coinage affirming orthodox Islamic legitimacy. The overall design is executed in bold Naskh script and enclosed within an outer beaded border typical of fifteenth-century Central Asian hammered silver issues. |
