Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a dense, multi-line Arabic legend executed in bold Nasta'liq calligraphy, characteristic of Shaybanid coinage. The central inscription contains the Shahada and the name and titles of Muhammad Shaybani Khan, rendered in deeply struck, interlocking script. Marginal legends extend toward the irregular flan edge, partially off-flan as typical of hammered Central Asian tankas of this period. The overall composition is aniconic, relying solely on the authority of the religious and royal inscriptions to convey legitimacy.
