Obverse description Central field features a square cartouche enclosing a multi-line Arabic/Persian inscription naming the ruler Burhan Sayyid. The area surrounding the cartouche contains additional inscriptions in nastaliq script arranged within the circular format of the flan. The legends are characteristic of Shaybanid-era coinage, rendered in a calligraphic style typical of Central Asian hammered silver issues of the mid-sixteenth century.
