| Additional information |
August II — Friedrich August I of Saxony — acquired the Polish throne in 1697 only after converting from Lutheranism to Catholicism and outbidding his rival François Louis de Bourbon with Saxon treasury funds funneled through Austrian intermediaries. The Dresden mint struck these fractional issues throughout his reign, meaning they were produced in Saxony for a Polish-Lithuanian monetary system, a jurisdictional oddity that reflects how thoroughly August treated the Commonwealth as a personal acquisition rather than a sovereign state.
The Kop. range spanning 10843–10884 encompasses numerous die varieties across the full reign period, and attribution to a specific year within the series requires close examination of the die combinations.
