| Reverse description | Elaborate quartered heraldic shield surmounted by a large royal crown with elaborate cross finial, displaying the arms of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and its constituent territories, including the Polish eagle, Lithuanian Pursuer, Swedish arms, and the Vasa dynastic device, all rendered in fine engraved detail. The shield is flanked by the mint initials G–P (for the mintmaster Gaspard Piotrkowczyk) and the date 16–47 split across the field on either side. An outer circle of decorative pellet-and-rosette ornaments frames the composition. The surrounding Latin legend reads SAM•LIV•SVEC•GOT•VAN•Q•HRI•REX, proclaiming Władysław IV's titles as King of Sweden, the Goths, and the Vandals. The reverse displays the sophisticated die-cutting typical of Baroque-era Polish thalers produced at the royal Kraków mint. |
