Obverse lettering IOAN CASIMIR DEI GRA REX POL M D L R P M
Reverse description Large crowned quartered shield of arms at center, displaying the Polish eagle, the Lithuanian Pursuer (Pahonia), the Swedish three crowns, and the Vasa sheaf, with the date 16-49 (or 16-50) flanking the shield on either side. The mint master's initials appear beside the date within the field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield along the toothed border, enumerating the king's full royal titles including his claim to the Swedish throne. The entire composition is executed in the elaborate Baroque heraldic style characteristic of the Kraków mint production of this period.
