Jan II Kazimierz's reign was arguably the most catastrophic in Polish-Lithuanian history — the "Deluge" years brought simultaneous Swedish, Russian, Cossack, Transylvanian, and Brandenburgian invasions, gutting the Commonwealth's treasury and disrupting minting operations severely. The Wilno mint operated under extraordinary pressure during this period, and the szóstak issues from these years are notoriously inconsistent in die quality, planchet preparation, and silver fineness as a result.
The Kopicki references spanning 3620–3624 reflect genuine variety in this type, not mere cataloguing conservatism. Jan Kazimierz ultimately abdicated in 1668, the same year this issue ceases — he retired to France and died there in 1672.
