Obverse description Central field features the crowned royal cipher 'S' of Sigismund I the Old, rendered in Gothic style beneath an elaborate Renaissance crown with cross finial and decorative arches. The monogram and crown are contained within a plain inner circle. The surrounding legend reads SIGIS REX POLO DO PRVS (Sigismund, King of Poland, Lord of Prussia), separated by rosette or floral stops, in Gothic lettering running clockwise around the periphery.
